Congressman Hurd visits Main Campus
Congressman Will Hurd and his district manager, Daniel Mezza, visited A&M-SA's main campus thisweek to discuss the University's cyber security program and tour the Patriots' Casa. Congressman Hurd serves on several Congressional committess related to homeland security and cyber security and encouraged further accelerated development of the University's academic cyber programs.
A&M-SA was designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Security and Information Assurance in 2012 by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security. The University's unique Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences in Information Technology is especially popular with military community students, who bring a depth of experiences and academic transfer credits from multiple colleges with them.
Congressman Hurd expressed a keen interest in support of University programs and activities that improve economic development throughout South Texas and the well-being of our students, alumni, and their families.

As part of her onboarding community outreach plan, Dr. Cynthia Teniente-Matson attended a Meet and Greet on Thursday, February 5 hosted by Staff Council in the Vista Room. Dr. Matson introduced herself and her vision for the future of the University to a full audience as part of her ongoing efforts to reach out to the A&M-SA faculty, staff, students and larger community.

Raising awareness for student services
Jaguar Tutoring and Career Services hosted a party this week to encourage students to learn about the opportunities available for tutoring, resume crafting, interview preparation, and more! Dr. Matson crashed the party, greeting faculty, staff and students as they discussed the variety of services students can utilize as they prepare for graduation and their career goals.

Jaguars help save lives
This week, the A&M-SA community had the opportunity to help save lives by becoming blood and marrow donors. The Office of Student Activities partnered with the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center to invite students, faculty and staff to donate blood at Main Campus and sign up to be a bone marrow donor at Brooks City-Base. Thanks to the generosity of the A&M-SA community, 18 units of blood were donated and 20 people signed up for the bone marrow donor program!

Student newspaper highlights University staff member
Brandon Oliver, multimedia, graphics, and publications coordinator, brings his passion for the University to his second love: wrestling. Brandon often uses wrestling as a platform to spread word of A&M-SA, recruiting audience members into the Jaguar family.
